This paper presents design reconsiderations of the proposed permanent magnet hybrid excitation motor (HEM) for high-speed main spindle drive in machine tools based on detailed analyses of experimental results obtained using prototype machine. The proposed HEM has been intentionally designed using 3D-finite-element analysis (FEA) for the target application. Although the basic working principle of HEM has been proven by the experimental results, the induced voltage waveforms measured have shown a large deviation from those computed by 3D-FEA. In particular, the induced voltage distortion due to fifth harmonics has been a primary factor which has degraded the drive performances of test machine. After checking the differences between the designed drawing and the real one being taken into account of real manufacturing, design reconsiderations are conducted to the tested HEM using 3D-FEA. As a result, it is demonstrated that 3D-FEA results reconsidering the differences of the design parameters, the stator pole shoe and the stator teeth, are relatively good agreement with the tested results.

But there are still some shortcomings of this electric vehicle components, one of which is the low value of power density of existing electric motor in the market today.On vehicles such as electric cars when Race Car Contest, energy saving problems about power density of the driving motor is very vital. This is because the total weight of the vehicle has a huge influence on the vehicle efficiency is against it. The issue is one of the reasons of the research task. In this final task is done making the design, simulation, and architecture of the Axial Halbach Brushless DC Motor. Use of system configuration on the halbach magnet to avoid the use of iron as a material cantilever rotor. By changing the material of the cantilever rotor with lighter materials such as aluminum or even carbon fibre, the value of power density electric motors can be increased.

  A permanent magnet spherical motor (PMSM) can perform a three-degree-of-freedom operation. The estimation of the attitude of the rotor is one of the key steps for realizing the closed-loop control of PMSM. An attitude estimation method based on a target-tracking algorithm is proposed in this study. Firstly, a high-speed camera is used to capture a video sequence of the spherical motor in motion. The location of the target is obtained by introducing an improved fast discriminative scale space tracking (IFDSST) algorithm to track the video sequence. In consideration of the motor's output shaft being covered with load, the single-target tracking algorithm is improved into a multi-target tracking algorithm. Markers, which are symmetrical with respect to the output shaft, are made on the surface of the rotor, and their attitudes are obtained from the images captured by the tracking algorithm. Secondly, the attitude of the output shaft is estimated by the coordinate transformation and the positional relationship between the markers and the output shaft.
